Preharvest Spray Additives
Spray additives are mixed with agricultural sprays to improve their performance and ensure effective application when targeting pests, weeds, or nutrient delivery. These additives enhance the efficiency of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers by optimizing how they interact with plant surfaces, water quality, and environmental conditions.
Surfactants are commonly used to reduce surface tension, allowing spray droplets to spread more evenly across plant surfaces for better coverage. Adjuvants work to enhance the absorption and penetration of active ingredients, ensuring that chemicals reach their target within the plant or pest. Drift control agents are crucial for minimizing off-target movement of sprays caused by wind, which helps reduce chemical waste and protects surrounding areas. Anti-foaming agents are added to prevent excessive foaming during tank mixing, which ensures a uniform and consistent spray solution.
Other additives, such as pH buffers and water conditioners, are used to stabilize the spray solution by adjusting pH or neutralizing hard water ions like calcium and magnesium, which can reduce the effectiveness of certain chemicals. Stickers and penetrants improve the adhesion of sprays to plant surfaces and facilitate deeper absorption through the cuticle, enhancing the efficacy of systemic products. When used correctly, these additives significantly improve the precision and effectiveness of agricultural spray applications.
Tank Wash Formulas
Tank wash formulas are specialized cleaning agents used to clean spray tanks and equipment, preventing cross-contamination, residue buildup, and equipment damage. These include detergents for general cleaning, ammonia-based cleaners to neutralize residues, acid-based solutions for mineral deposits, and specialty cleaners designed for specific chemicals. Regular and thorough cleaning with these formulas ensures equipment longevity, crop safety, and compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Capacity Chemical distributors and service providers work with growers and PCA’s to provide premium products and usage information.
